KamalCV privacy policy

KamalCV is committed to protecting its users' privacy and keeping their data secure. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your full rights to control your data. It was prepared in line with security best practices and the requirements of global sign-in providers (such as Google).

1. Data we collect

We collect only the data needed to provide a professional and secure resume-building experience:

  • Basic account data: Your first and last name and email address, plus a phone number only if you choose to add one in Settings (it isn't asked at sign-up), and your password, which is stored in our databases fully encrypted and can't be viewed by anyone.
  • Resume data: The text and content you write in the resume editor.
  • Uploaded photos: When you upload a photo for your resume, we automatically process it to remove all hidden metadata, such as location and camera details, before saving it on our servers, to protect your privacy. We also keep a reduced-size copy of your original photo (before cropping) and the crop position, so you can re-adjust the photo when you change your resume template. Both are deleted when you remove the photo, delete the resume, or delete your account.
  • External sign-in data (Google OAuth): If you choose to sign up or sign in with Google, we collect only the basic information you authorize (your name and email address) so you can access the platform without a password.
  • Technical data and activity records: We collect technical data such as your IP address and browser type to protect your account in each sign-in session. We also keep a record of your PDF downloads and your subscription status.
  • Using AI rewriting: When you press "Polish with AI" (a subscriber feature) we record only the time of use and the field, to apply the daily limit. We keep no separate copy of the text sent or of the result beyond your resume itself.

2. How we use your data

We use your data only to run and improve the service we provide to you:

  • Running your account, saving your resumes, and creating and exporting PDF files.
  • Using your saved details (such as your name and phone number) to fill in new resumes automatically and save you time.
  • Sending necessary emails, such as account confirmation messages and password recovery links.

Our strict privacy commitment: We do not sell your personal data to anyone, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below, and only as far as needed to run the platform.

3. Third parties and data processing

To keep the platform stable and fast, we rely on cloud infrastructure from trusted service providers who process data securely on our behalf:

  • Neon: Hosting and managing the databases where your data is securely stored.
  • Railway: Running the site's servers and keeping the service available.
  • Resend: An email service for sending official transactional messages (such as account confirmation and password recovery).
  • Google (Gemini API): To rewrite your summary or job description when you press "Polish with AI". Only that field's text is sent, without your name or contact details, and nothing is sent unless you press the button yourself. Google may use what is sent through its free service to improve its products, and human reviewers may see it after it is detached from our account; so don't put confidential or sensitive details in these fields.

4. Cookie policy

We follow a strict policy of using as few cookies as possible:

  • We use strictly necessary cookies only, dedicated solely to keeping your sign-in session active and remembering your preferred interface language.
  • We do not use any tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

5. Your full control over your data (user rights)

You have complete control over your personal data from the «Account settings» page:

  • Right to edit: You can update and edit your name and phone number at any time.
  • Right to deletion (right to be forgotten): You can choose to «delete your account permanently» at any time with one click. When you do, our system automatically and immediately erases your account, your resumes, your uploaded photos and all your records from our databases, with no way back.
